Why study economics at UC Santa Cruz?
The Economics Department offers several bachelor’s degree programs and a variety of introductory, intermediate, and upper-division elective classes for undergraduates, a one-year applied M.S. curriculum for master’s students, and a rigorous Ph.D. track for doctoral students. Economics graduates will learn to apply analytical and statistical tools that are useful in a variety of careers, including data analytics, accounting, finance, and the tech sector.

Leo Rosen: Finding community in the classroom
UC Santa Cruz alumnus Leo Rosen came to UC Santa Cruz as a transfer student, stayed for graduate school, and now works as a data analyst. He credits the engaging, friendly environment in Professor George Bulman’s class with inspiring him to pursue graduate school.
